I believe my job as a therapist is to help individuals, parents or couples find "their owner's manual". My work must be diagnostic and strategic through a comprehensive understanding of the person, their situation and settings. I have a wide background as a therapist from settings in several different clinics that provides a layering of understanding. i.e. education, addiction, trauma, family therapy, and group treatment clinics. I also believe understanding culture is vital to effective treatment as well. I have been successful in treating ADHD individuals throughout the lifespan. Many adults, once identified, need help understanding this impact on work, school and relationships. Often they have been misdiagnosed or avoid seeking assistance after a long history of seeking help and finding it a negative or shaming experience. I have a great deal of experience working with schools regarding ADHD and read testing by which I can design adaptations for students. This is especially important for students transitioning to college where organization and self advocacy become critical skills. Many ADHD students struggle at this change in setting.
