I envision therapy much as a road trip-as the client you are in the driver's seat. You determine our destination (goals), our speed, and when we need to stop and review where we've been, the progress we've made, and our strategy going forward. As your therapist, I help to read your maps (identifying core emotional issues, understanding significant life events, and identifying ways you may feel your life is out of balance) and help you to move forward. Together we will work to identify coping mechanisms which no longer are effective and to develop new, effective skills My professional experience has been primarily focused on the areas of women's issues (work/life balance, relationship concerns, self-empowerment), mood disorders, and anxiety. I have particular expertise and over 25 years experience helping people who are struggling with eating disorders and body image. My approach is anchored in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) while integrating aspects of other therapeutic approaches including relaxation techniques, expressive therapies, and Equine-assisted psychotherapy and learning. The integration of expressive and Equine -assisted psychotherapy therapies provide the client an opportunity for experiential learning and healing.
