You may have been told to not complain, to keep your head up, or to not cry. When these are messages you have heard, it is easy to deny your emotions, experience low self-esteem, or develop a negative inner critic that is fueled by anxiety, guilt, and shame. You may also feel like you have to work hard to validate your experience because you aren’t understood. Additionally, your relationships may feel overwhelming and feels difficult to build boundaries. Overall, you’re caught up in a cycle of perpetuating pain and you become more disconnected from who you are and those around you. There are different parts of us that are hidden from others, wounded, and eager to be validated. In my practice, I acknowledge, aim to understand, and work towards healing those parts. I have particular expertise in trauma, people of color, and IPV. I also work with individuals who are motivated to understand how their past has impacted their present. I return every phone call or email message I receive so please do not hesitate to reach out to me to schedule an initial consultation. I look forward to hearing from you.
