My philosophy on therapy comes from Marsha Linehan - Everyone is doing the best they can at any given moment. And my role is to help people identify the ways in which they can improve managing their emotions, thoughts, and actions. I use a combination of CBT, DBT, MBT (Mentalization Based Therapy), and Motivational Interviewing. I have also helped clients with OCD use outpatient exposure therapy for their compulsions and intrusive thoughts. The clients who will benefit the most are adolescents and adults whom are ready to look into and change ineffective patterns so they can live their best lives. I also worked at a residential program for adults with Bipolar Disorder, Schizoaffective Disorder, and Schizophrenia which emphasized returning to the workforce and/or living as productively as possible. I chose to get an MSW because I believe in looking at people in relation to not just their mental health issues but also their environment and life as a whole. Post graduation, I worked at an opioid treatment center and then switched to doing outpatient individual therapy in a community hospital and later joined a group private practice before choosing to become self-employed. For about 2 years, I also did consulting for a state agency where I have gained knowledge of government systems and TBI populations.
