About

Life moves quickly, and therapy can help you to slow down and reflect on your experience in ways that open up new possibilities. In this process, even the most troubling symptoms contain important potential energy. As a therapist I work to strike a balance between creating space for reflection and participating actively in the process, including, when needed, telling you what I really think. But most of all, I have respect for the particular difficulties that you face and for the ways in which you have lived with them.

I am a licensed clinical social worker with experience and post-graduate training as well as warmth, empathy, humor. My work is informed by contemporary psychoanalytic theories and techniques because I believe these help facilitate a process that addresses the deepest levels of distress and has the most lasting benefits.

I often work with people in creative and academic fields as well as with childhood trauma, complicated loss, relationship conflict, depression, anxiety, destructive habits, and family issues. I am committed to maintaining a practice that represents a diversity of race, class, gender, sexual orientation, age and culture.
