Dr. Dunn specializes in the treatment of eating disorders, body image concerns, anxiety, OCD, depression, LGBTQ+ concerns, life transitions, relationship/interpersonal concerns, gender affirming treatment evaluations, grief/loss, identity concerns, and multicultural psychology (e.g., gender, sexuality, race/ethnicity). Trained as a counseling psychologist, he provides evidence-based, culturally centered therapy to adults in Washington DC, Virginia, and other PSYPACT states. Using warmth and empathy, he helps clients examine and reflect on their lives, and move in the direction of their goals and values. As a part of the counseling process, Dr. Dunn draws upon clients' strengths to help them develop new perspectives and gain skills, such as mindfulness, self-compassion, and grounding. He tailors scientifically-supported approaches to the unique situation of each client. Dr. Dunn focuses on enhancing clients’ ability to form meaningful connections, foster authenticity, and develop self-empathy. When appropriate, he situates clients’ personal issues within the broader cultural context, such as highlighting the impact of societal notions of gender or experiences of marginalization. Dr. Dunn looks forward to hearing from you!
