About

One of the lenses through which I view counseling is Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling. This type of counseling focuses on serving individuals with chronic illness and disability. It is my belief that disability is a natural part of the human experience and much of the stigma surrounding chronic illness and disability comes from deep-rooted, societal fears and misunderstanding of what disability is and represents. Psychosocial adaptation to disability (including mental health) are central to understanding the self and personal growth. It is my hope that through the counseling process, we can facilitate this growth together.

Some of the techniques I employ are guided by the theoretical frameworks of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), solution focused and strength-based approaches to counseling, Motivational Interviewing (MI), and positive psychology.

Empathy and understanding are central to success of any relationship. When an individual feels safe, seen, heard, and accepted, some of the conditions necessary for personal growth and healing are satisfied. My services focus on the creation of this type of growth-oriented environment using evidence-based counseling services.
