You might have lost someone important to you or feel like you lost a loved one because the person has changed due to sickness or age. Or it could be that you have lost something important to you, like your identity, abilities, or dream, and it is difficult to live the same way. Grief is part of our life, yet every kind of grief is complex and hard to bear. It is normal to feel overwhelmed, out of control and isolated, as no one understands what you have been going through. Keeping yourself busy sounds like a good strategy for the short term, but even if you are strong and independent, we all need help sometimes. I have worked with clients facing trauma and grief for over fifteen years in various settings, and I helped them develop inner strengths and bear the unbearable. In therapy, I help you unpack what you have been carrying, reflect on your thoughts and feelings, and develop healthier approaches to your thoughts and feelings rather than turning away from them. I use a compassionate-based approach and adopt therapy models like cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and attachment model. We cannot change the past, but we can choose how we add chapters to our life story. I would be grateful to walk alongside you and be part of your healing journey. I grew up in Japan and provide therapy in English and Japanese.
