Young people present unique challenges, but also unique opportunities. After almost 30 years experience working with this population, there aren't many situations I haven't encountered. There is always reason for hope. What your therapist expects influences the outcomes. As a behavioral optimist, I approach clients I work with believing that no one wants to be miserable. We all want to reach our potential, as children, adolescents, parents, families, members of a community. Every living, breathing person, whatever their age, race, gender, sexual orientation, or place in life, is capable of change. That is a firm belief of mine. Most of my work is with adolescents, young adults, and their families. I have been trained over the years in dealing with multi-problem families and out-of-control teenagers. Although I am not affiliated with insurance plans, I will give you information on an app that you can use to file for out of network reimbursement in about a minute. I have been fortunate to work with many unique children and adolescents, including many on the autistic spectrum and those with depression and/or anxiety. I have also worked with many young adults struggling with issues related to achieving competence and independence. When choosing a therapist for a young person, experience and expertise can be crucial.
