I strive to create a safe therapeutic relationship that supports and encourages my patients to overcome the obstacles in their lives that have held them back in order for them to resume healthy development. Every patient brings a unique life story to the work and I am committed to understanding and recognizing each individual's strivings and challenges. In addition to psychotherapy, I also provide psychological assessment services for children, adolescents and adults in my work, and believe the process of assessment brings much clarity to what are often confusing and misunderstood difficulties. I see children, adolescents and adults in psychotherapy and psychological assessment. I work with couples as well. Challenges that I see regularly in my practice include relationship issues, depression/anxiety, trauma recovery, separation and survivor guilt, aging, family conflicts, learning disorders/ADHD diagnosis and treatment, and grief and loss. I have been an active member of the San Francisco Psychotherapy Research Group for 20+ years, teaching and supervising trainees. In addition to my private practice, I worked for many years teaching and supervising graduate psychology students at Alliant and community mental health clinic in downtown Oakland.
