I see psychotherapy as a collaborative process. From this perspective, I have developed an individualized approach in which the relationship provides a safe place where feelings and behavior can be explored. Often, current struggles have developed over time so that connections can be made to past experiences. With this understanding a person can begin to make changes which lead to greater satisfaction and happiness. I bring a solid eclectic knowledge base to the process, drawing on individual dynamics, relationship dynamics, and an understanding of human development throughout the life cycle.I work with individuals, couples, and adolescents (including their families).
Because I have over thirty years of experience, I am able to relate to a broad range of issues including: separation and loss, depression, anxiety disorders, traumatic stress, and relationship problems. My capacity for empathy allows me to make a meaningful connection to many different kinds of people.
My personal life experiences including loss of parents, living as a single adult, a later in life marriage, and becoming a stepparent, have convinced me that life offers many unique opportunities. Treating adolescents, adults, and senior citizens has give me an appreciation of the life cycle, and its many challenges.
