We each come from different backgrounds with unique experiences that intertwine to shape the individuals that we have become. Behaviors that once served to protect us from difficult past circumstances may no longer be appropriate and may now be creating problems in our relationships with friends, significant others and/or co-workers. We have patterned ways of coping with stress and anxiety that we developed in our family of origin. But we are not locked into patterns; patterns can be changed. I believe that as individuals we have a deep desire to be heard and understood. Each of us have a unique story that has molded us. Your story is your truth. As a therapist, I have the honor of holding space for your truth and creating a safe space for you to explore sensitive areas in your past. My approach acknowledges the need for strategies to provide immediate relief, while working through past experiences that have influenced current issues. Emerging Hope Counseling Services is founded on the belief that in every situation there is always hope for change. The lotus flower is rooted in dark, muddy waters but it rises from the depths, breaches the water’s surface and emerges miraculously beautiful. We all have experienced dark times, but we can emerge from those murky waters beautiful and whole.
