Therapists » Clinical Social Work/Therapist
I am a psychotherapist and work with adults and couples providing both short-term and long-term therapy. My practice is based on cognitive and relational theories, with a strengths-based approach geared to helping people reach their full potential in all life areas. I am a proponent of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and I am certified in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy by the Albert Ellis Institute. I am also a certified addiction counselor (CASAC) and have extensive experience with substance abuse issues. I also draw heavily from classical and existential philosophy, and other cultural influences including music and literature. I started my career as a journalist, inspired by the idea that I could make a living by talking to interesting people. I was fortunate to obtain an MBA from Columbia Business School, and went on to work as a finance and strategy executive at The New York Times Company for more than a decade. The experience I gained through this work informs my perspective as a therapist, and helps me understand the pressures of modern urban life that underlie so much of our stress and anxiety. My goal is to help my clients regain control of their own lives in every sense. I believe we can train our minds to be our best friends instead of our worst enemies.
