Hi there! I'm a transgender Licensed Professional Counselor (Texas) and EMDR practitioner who specializes in treating attachment wounding and complex trauma for adult LGBQT+ cllents. There are so many parts to our experience: Trauma that’s related to our families-of-origin (for many of us, our families were our first abusers); anxiety, perfectionism, and masking that comes with trying to prove our worth in the world; spiritual trauma from histories with shame-based religious systems; abusive or exploitative relationships, losses that we never had skills to address. The worst abuse is often what we've done to ourselves. In treating trauma, I place a lot of emphasis on safety first. After we've met and you've determined whether our space will work for you, I use guided imagery to create your internal Calm Safe Place for regulating stress and emotional difficulty. Once you feel grounded in this, we specify your goals and map a plan for achieving them. I've been out as queer since I was a teenager in the mid-80s and have love and reverence for our collective culture, and the individuals who live it. When you come to my virtual office, your life story gets to take up the room. I'm kink and poly-aware, fluent in gender language and pronouns, and knowledgeable of drag and other queer cultural references.
