To me, therapy is about seeking wholeness; it is a journey of more fully integrating our minds, bodies, & souls. Many of us live trapped in patterns & scripts that weigh us down & that keep us from living full, authentic lives. As a trauma-informed therapist (& former spiritual director), I take into consideration the whole person, noting that past or ongoing traumas, wounds, & injustices shape the way we understand and engage with ourselves and the world. I help clients draw connections between formative past experiences & current ones in order to identify & shift those relational patterns & ongoing struggles. Inner child work is a cornerstone of what I do; our inner kids often unconsciously run us, getting us into situations that remind us of past pain or dysfunction. I use talk therapy & experiential activities like letter writing & roleplays to help clients get free of these patterns & have corrective, healing emotional experiences in the present. I also bring a liberatory & intersectional lens to therapy, focusing on issues related to gender, race, culture, class, migration, sexuality, spirituality, & intergenerational & historical trauma. You’ll find that I have an irreverent sense of humor, love pop culture analogies, & bring a sense of playfulness & deep empathy to the hard/heart work of healing.
