Hello, I am Sheila Smith; I've been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 2000. I genuinely enjoy listening to people's experiences. I learn so much from my clients. I can work with just about anyone, but I especially like young people and the elderly population. My approach to therapy may appear casual, and I hope my clients feel relaxed and comfortable when we're together. I will work with my clients to figure out what will work best for them. I am direct but gentle. I listen much more than I speak in sessions. I work at understanding their lives from their point of view. My clients feel safe and heard with me. Twenty years of my experience has been with very ill people in crisis, and so I have worked with every imaginable disorder and life circumstance. I've had good success with all types and ages who can all relate when I speak to their heart and help them sort things out. I began my studies in the MSW program intending to be an administrator but was placed in an outpatient group where I was lucky to be assigned a talented and compassionate LCSW as my supervisor, and quickly fell in love with working with clients to improve their lives. And that's what I've done ever since.
