Sometimes difficult life circumstances are too much to bear without help. Past trauma can come flooding back and keep you stuck in painful memories that include fear, anxiety, depression and grief. Chronic illness such as dementia or cancer can turn the lives of family members upside down, in an attempt to meet care needs. As you attempt to focus on career and family, you can sometimes find yourself blocked from achieving long-held goals and dreams. My 7 decades of life experience, along with specialized psychological training, give me a practical perspective to help you navigate your difficult life circumstances. Because I believe that the method of counseling must be compatible with the individual being served, I use a variety of techniques and theories to guide my work. Focusing on your strengths and resources, we will collaborate to uncover and heal the source of your distress. In addition to evidence-based practices such as Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I utilize biofeedback with breath work and mindfulness for anxiety. I have experience using complementary therapies such as Emotional Freedom Technique. I have successfully treated clients with PTSD resulting from past trauma.
