Hello, I am Shannon Hamilton an LPC in Missouri. I take a very person centered and trauma focused approach to my practice. I have worked with all age groups and have a focus on addictions, trauma, attachment disorders, as well as anxiety and depression. Person centered and trauma focused. I use Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Sand tray, and art to assist clients in learning to manager emotions and heal through their lived experiences. I typically work with adolescents and adults. I am very comfortable treating addictive disorders, trauma, personality disorders, and attachment disorders. I take an empathetic and supportive role in the sessions with clients. I provide feedback and assist clients in gaining self-efficacy. I encourage clients to set their own goals but will give feedback if they request it. During the first session I will ask about history of symptoms and goals for therapy. I began my career as a case worker and quickly realized that I would like to take a more personal approach to how I assist clients in gaining a sense of control in their lives. I have been in therapy myself and realize the importance of having a safe space to heal.
