Shannon Ackal is a Licensed Psychologist/Clinical Neuropsychologist with over 15 years of experience conducting comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults presenting with a broad spectrum of neurocognitive, developmental, medical, and psychiatric conditions. She has had the privilege of training and working in a wide variety of settings including inpatient facilities, hospitals, and private practices. Shannon believes that understanding how our unique brain works is a critical process to understanding the client as a "whole." Each of us presents a unique pattern of cognitive strengths and weaknesses that impacts our functioning across environments. Understanding the “why” behind certain behaviors, emotions, “hard” things, and “easy” things often helps individuals to remove feelings of self-blame and doubt, as well as target areas for intervention. Shannon enjoys the opportunity to collaborate with individuals, children, and families to help them better appreciate how each person's wonderful brain works, and where to intervene for optimal growth and functioning. In her experience, the knowledge gained from comprehensive evaluations is helpful, practical, and empowering.
