My name is Shanna (Shay-nah) McNamara and I love my job! I have been working in the social work field for 13 years, and have been a therapist for over 8 years. Being a therapist is one of the most rewarding things I have accomplished, and I strive to work collaboratively with my clients to ensure we are on track towards their identified goals. I always prioritize the clients desires and needs out of treatment, and remind my clients I am not “magic,” I am a human helping other humans with life’s messy struggles, one step at a time. My clients have said they appreciate my honest approach with humor and laughter along the way. I enjoy working with clients who have anxiety, specific phobias, and OCD using ERP (Exposure Response Prevention). The work can be hard, but ERP has been proven to be extremely effective. We are able to meet virtually, and I work with all ages. I also enjoy working with clients on other areas of mental health support! I have a passion for social justice, cultural competency, and a special interest in working with LGBTQIA+ clients, as I am also part of the queer community and have navigated my way through acceptance and self-love. I am also a single mother to two school-aged children, and enjoy working on parenting support as well. I look forward to working with you!
