Sometimes a seemingly minor event from childhood, or at other times major traumatic events that happen at any age, can overwhelm and stress us. Either immediately after or years later we start to feel the effects of these events. We may feel depressed or angry, feel anxiety or panic for no apparent reason, have unexplained physical pain, or experience difficulty sleeping or nightmares. These may start to interfere with daily life, work, and relationships. If some or all these are your experience, you are certainly not alone. My first goal is to provide a warm and welcoming environment in order to help you work through such problems. I combine insight-oriented talk and listening with somatic methods to explore past influences on present life, relationships, and self-esteem, while promoting awareness and release of physical tension. As the key events emerge through our explorations together, I help you process them in tailored ways (such as EMDR) so that these events will be much less distressing. Overall I will help you improve self-awareness, establish healthy relationships with self and others, and achieve symptom relief.
