Something horrible happened that never should have happened. You oscillate between actively avoiding thinking about it and blaming yourself, even though you know it’s not your fault. You used to be better at avoiding it, but recently the details of the incident are flooding your mind day and night; memories which were once contained are now spilling over. You’re feeling disconnected from yourself and others, even though most people around you think you are fine. Despite your outward success, you feel that you could collapse into a million pieces at any moment and that this is exhausting. You have tried a little bit of everything to cope— substances, self-help books, perhaps an attempt to “yoga it out of you”, but none of these methods has addressed the core of the painful memories and feelings that haunt you. That’s why you’re here, you want to feel the way others see you, as someone who handles things well, and you are ready to face this. I will engage you with an empathic and collaborative approach. I utilize EMDR techniques to help my clients safely delve into traumatic memories. As your therapeutic ally, I will work at a pace which is comfortable for you, while assisting you in building a future that includes positive coping, healthy relationships, and a sense of ease, peace, and joy.
