I use evidence-based interventions with adolescents and adults who are struggling with worry, depression, identity, and navigating relationships (with themselves and others). Many of my clients are "high functioning" in that they get up each day, go to work or school (or both) and make it through the day. Yet, they also contend with issues like pervasive negative thoughts, overwhelming feelings of anxiety or loneliness, struggles with eating behavior and body image or compulsive behaviors, focusing attention, and managing difficult relationships. I work with clients to lighten the effects of these struggles on their lives. My training is in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This means I help people learn to examine their thoughts, feelings, and behavior, and begin to see that they have choice in their actions. I also have a background in basic and applied research and a clinical faculty appointment at New York University. I know that the process of finding a therapist who feels like a good fit can be very difficult. Research shows that feeling supported and understood by your therapist is as important as any action or approach that they take! Please feel free to be in touch with me to explore if we might be a good fit to work together.
