About

Do you want to learn a new and healthier way of being in the world? Many people come to therapy because they are using old coping skills that helped them survive difficult experiences, but no longer serve them now that they are out of that situation. Instead of feeling shame about these anxious, fearful, or angry responses, I help patients accept those parts of themselves while also strengthening parts that seek love and growth. We’ll also explore how traumatic experiences don’t just happen at the interpersonal level, but often result from larger systems of oppression, which we can then internalize.

I use a trauma therapy model, which means we’ll start by understanding and learning to regulate the connections between emotions and physical sensations. We’ll then move into processing trauma memories at a pace that works for you.

Healing requires not just an understanding and acknowledgment of what happened and how it impacts you today, but the creation of a supportive and empathetic therapeutic relationship. What happens between my patients and me is just as important as what happens when you leave the session.
