Emotional distress is too often pathologized when it's a reasonable response to the oppressive systems in which we live. Instead of trying to "fix" you or help you not feel any difficult emotions, I believe all feelings hold information, and we have the power to discover what that information is and choose what to do with it. I would aim to support you by helping you name and feel difficult feelings with more ease and less overwhelm, treat all parts of you with curiosity and compassion, and determine what your emotions are trying to tell you so you can feel more relieved, empowered, and connected to yourself and others. I'm transparent, collaborative, and humble in my approach. I'm open to feedback and want to co-create a safe, accountable space that honors your needs + goals. I work with folks of all backgrounds but have the most experience working with BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA+ folks re: depression, anxiety, trauma and (C)PTSD, relationships, identities, grief and loneliness. I approach therapy from anti-oppressive, feminist, relational-cultural, and internal family systems lenses (can share more about what this means in a free consultation). Former clients have appreciated my warmth and have felt that we really go places in our sessions. If my approach interests or resonates with you, I invite you to reach out!
