I work with people who are stuck in a feeling, thought, or behavior with no room for other feelings, other thoughts, or contact with others beyond what they are stuck with. I work with people experiencing something painful and curious that they know is coming from them but it's as if it is happening to them. In other words, something like a painful dream, which I know is coming from me but it's as if it's happening to me. I work with people who feel enough security in our relationship to be able to talk about our relationship. The arts and humanities have been a fixture of my professional life in addition to being a psychologist. In our first session, it is important to get a sense if I am comfortable listening to you, if you are comfortable talking to me, and if psychotherapy is suited to what has lead you to call, in your own words. Working with me often involves transforming experiences of guilt into healthy assertiveness as well as facing fears to realize agency and potential. I previously worked as a psychologist who also trained doctoral and master's level graduate students in integrative, psychodynamic psychotherapy through a seminar I lead, supervision, and supervision of new supervisors. Before that, I taught at the undergraduate and graduate level while practicing in community, university, and private settings.
