Trained to conduct research on what works in psychotherapy, I have 28 years of experience in helping my clients to honor and direct the course of their own lives. This can be a step by step guided process and an exciting one, as old fears and patterns begin to change. I offer compassion and wisdom as we work together to understand the meaning of any trauma that my clients have experienced in the story of their lives. Healing is promoted by using mind-body techniques to provide comfort and to clarify issues of responsibility, empowering you to design your future. Although most of my work is with adult individuals, I enjoy working with couples and families, structuring communication skills to move beyond conflict. I try to hold each individual to their own highest standards, helping them to script out plans for more cooperative and effective life choices. I work with a wide range of individuals working through post-traumatic stress, divorce, identity development, life transitions, professional athlete issues, parenting, academic underachievement, grieving, and multicultural issues. Having served on the professional ethics committee, I teach Ph.D. students how to conduct effective treatment that changes peoples lives.
