About

I am old enough to know that life does not always lend itself to simplistic answers. At various periods we all find ourselves in difficult circumstances that feel overwhelming, sometimes related to life changing tragedies like death, divorce, new medical diagnosis like cancer, job loss, or catastrophic injury. In these situations your life changes in an instant. There is an avalanche of distressing emotions and life no longer feels solid or stable. As a therapist who has experienced some serious, life changing tragedies, I understand those feelings and am specifically trained in grief and trauma.

My experiences with some unusually difficult life events and over 20 years in mental health have prepared me to wade into difficult waters with clients. Much of my practice focuses on tragedy, trauma, loss and grief. I sometimes offer grief groups and am trained in Mindfulness, CBT, DBT, EMDR, and body based strategies.

When tragedy, trauma, loss, grief, or even mild anxiety invade our lives we often feel overwhelmed in our distress, disconnected from others, including those we love, and lost in our loneliness. Day to day functioning can seem like insurmountable tasks and endless, frightening "what ifs" dominate our thoughts. No darkness of the soul is too dark to heal.
