About

Preston works with individuals and couples, specializing in LGBTQIA+ populations 16 years and older. As a gay man, he recognizes the need for an unconditionally affirming space to explore issues of sexuality, gender, self-esteem/self-hate, body image, relationship issues, open/poly relationships, anxiety, depression, etc. His counseling style focuses on developing a genuine connection with his clients based on mutual respect and trust in order to facilitate the client’s growth. Therapy can feel like serious work, but Preston recognizes the need for positivity, encouragement, and laughter throughout the process.

He primarily leans towards humanistic approaches, drawing from the likes of ACT, existential, and person-centered techniques. Self-worth and personal values are often central themes in his work with clients. He also runs a Process Group for LGBTQ+ individuals in early adulthood (18-35) that is open to new members.

Preston has experience working with queer clients from positions he held at The Trevor Project and the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy in New York City. He currently holds an LMSW and is pursuing LCSW licensure. He is being supervised by Shaina Gordon, LCSW, and under the direction of James Kingman, MS, LPC, NCC.
