About
Penny is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of New Mexico. She attended New Mexico Highlands University for both her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Social Work. Penny has spent the majority of her career focused in areas involving children, families, adoption, trauma and attachment. She has worked closely with neurodivergent children in the school setting, foster care and adoptions, and most recently has been providing individual therapy for children. As a parent to multiple neurodivergent children, Penny is passionate about supporting children and their families/caregivers to embrace their child's uniqueness. Penny is certified as an AutPlay Therapy provider. She is currently working towards becoming a Registered Play Therapist with the Association for Play Therapy. She has completed Sand Tray training, levels 1 and 2 at the Sand Tray Institute of NM, and is a member of the NMAPT. Penny became inspired to open Penny’s Playce, LLC in Rio Rancho, in order to continue serving neurodivergent children and their families in her community. As the parent of an autistic young adult, Penny knows firsthand how empowering, and difficult at times, the journey can be. Penny welcomes all families and looks forward to meeting you!
