I have been in clinical practice for more than 30 years. Over that time, I have worked with a wide variety of people experiencing different kinds of distress. That range of experience allows me to feel confident that I could work with many different types of problems. Over the years, I have received specific evaluations from many of my patients. They have described me as an excellent listener, down to earth and having a more active response style. My style of treatment could best be described as eclectic. I use a combination of several different treatment modalities. These include cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, dialectical behavior therapy and motivational interviewing. I have both practiced and taught these skills at a graduate level. The places I have taught include the University of Massachusetts at Boston's graduate school of Counseling, Harvard Medical School and Northeastern University.
