Couples in distress often feel like they cannot communicate with each other and that their relationship has grown negative and distant. Even couples that feel mostly solid can often use help in understanding why they sometimes feel misunderstood or unappreciated by their partner. Whether your relational problems feel very serious or relatively mild, my goal is to help you understand how and why you are experiencing relational challenges and help you develop and practice new relational skills and approaches that will bring you closer together and renew your sense of being an effective and mutually supportive team and partnership. My areas of focus include: couples counseling; co-parenting between divorced or separated parents; infidelity repair and recovery; career and workplace challenges; and consensual nonmonogamy and polyamory. In many couples, at least one partner is skeptical about going to couples counseling, not believing that it will improve the relationship. Because "fit" between therapist and clients is important, I welcome couples who want to come in for a single initial session before deciding to participate in multiple sessions.
