Everyone has the capacity to make positive changes whether they be large or small if they are motivated to do so. Therapy can be a helpful tool to help you achieve your goals and/or explore emotions that are difficult to deal with alone. Therapy can be hard work and it's important that you are comfortable with how your treatment is progressing. I have experience working with empirically supported therapies such as CBT and Prolonged Exposure Therapy/Exposure Therapy as well as Humanistic and Interpersonal styles of treatment. Getting to know each client's needs and how to best approach therapy goals is the initial task. My dissertation research at UCSD's Moore's Cancer Center explored the psychological and physical benefits of practicing yoga post treatment for cancer. My doctoral training is in Health Psychology and I practice from a Mind/Body integrated perspective with years of experience with a variety of health conditions. My main methods of treatment are Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy and Psychodynamic/Interpersonal Therapy. Research shows one of the most powerful predictors of growth in therapy relies on the strength of the relationship between therapist and client. It is my hope you are able to find a good fit for your needs.
