About

I have many years of experience working with folks with a history of trauma and substance abuse issues. I believe that these two things often go hand in hand - people using substances to help deal with the painful feelings associated with trauma. Most recently I have focused on working with the LGBTQ communities to address issues related to societal and familial rejection, isolation, bullying and low self worth. I have found that providing queer affirming therapy in a nonjudgmental environment can be very healing to clients.

My style is warm and non-judgmental and I use various interventions based on your unique needs. I do use a trauma informed and harm reduction approach to all the work I do.

My initial clinical training was psychodynamic and over the years I have added other types of interventions (such as CBT) based on my clients' needs. I have been trained in EMDR which can very effective in overcoming the effects of trauma.
