About

Psychotherapy can be one of the most valuable life experiences a person can have. Yet finding the right therapist may seem like an overwhelming task. I believe that establishing trust in the therapeutic relationship is critical before any meaningful or lasting change can result from a particular "technique." It is important to feel confident in your therapist's competency, compassion and character in order to build a safe, trusting relationship in which growth and change can occur. I hope that the personal statements made by therapists in this directory will help you find a good match for your particular needs.

For over 30 years I have worked with a diverse range of issues and people in Austin and New Orleans. In addition to treating depression and anxiety, I have extensive experience helping people work through traumatic life events such as childhood abuse, sudden loss, diagnosis of serious illness, or social rejection and isolation.

I offer individual, couple, family and group therapy. I also do contracted supervision for therapists who do not have advanced licensure. I was an adjunct professor for many years at Tulane School of Social Work and I authored the book, Sexual Abuse and the Culture of Catholicism; Routledge, 2007.
