My name is Melissa Barreto, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). I have been providing counseling for 4 years and have been working in the mental health field in some way for around 6 years. I have experience with childhood trauma, PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, Adjustment Disorder, Adoption, and working with the child welfare system. The theoretical approach that I most use is CBT with some Gestalt. I am also EMDR certified and use that technique as well. I approach goal setting and a collaboration between my client and myself. We work together to set appropriate and attainable goals. My communication style is empathetic and collaborative. I prioritize active listening to fully understand your perspective, and I provide thoughtful, non-judgmental feedback. My goal is to create a supportive environment where open, honest dialogue fosters growth and healing. During our first session together, we will get to know each other. I will take the time to get to know what the client wants to get out of therapy and what brought them to take the step to therapy.
