I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in American Studies from Rutgers University and earned a Master's degree in Counseling from Regis University in Colorado. While obtaining my Master's degree, I also completed a two-year training in Hakomi Mindful Somatic Therapy. Hakomi uses the body as an access point to discover unconscious patterns and core beliefs. It has the potential to create long-lasting healing and deeply informs my work. I had the privilege of providing bereavement counseling to hospice clients during my internship in graduate school and also facilitated a support group for individuals struggling with eating disorders. These were extremely meaningful experiences and I felt honored to witness the resiliency and self-discovery of the clients I served. A good deal of my experience has been in addiction treatment, working in both outpatient and residential settings. As a counselor, I create a space of non-judgement, compassion and safety. My goal is to work in collaboration with my clients to identify strengths, challenges and new ways of engaging with themselves and their world. I utilize an array of therapeutic approaches dependent on the needs of the client. These include Client-Centered Therapy, Mindfulness, Hakomi, Motivational Interviewing.
