My practice focuses on treating children and teens with depression, anxiety, attachment issues, eating disorders, substance abuse, attention deficit hyperactivity, and behavioral disorders. Play therapy is my primary tool to help children cope with issues as they grow and develop. Although the child is my client, I work to provide education and support to parents, as the child's primary support system. I work to support growth and change for my young clients with a mix of directive and non-directive play therapy approaches. I utilize cognitive-behavioral methods, with an understanding of child development, behavioral psychology, parent-child interaction therapy, and family systems. Having a child or teen who is struggling emotionally or behaviorally creates a sense of powerlessness for parents. Counseling and play therapy give the child the arena to work through these issues in a safe and supportive environment.
