Some seek out therapy to help with a particular problem, and others to better understand themselves and their internal world. In any case, feeling heard and understood by a therapist with whom you share a meaningful connection, and working collaboratively to make sense of your thoughts, feelings, and experiences, is almost always productive. Because therapy is an exercise in vulnerability, the fit between client and therapist is a powerful predictor of outcome. The right therapist will feel compatible in personality; challenge you in the context of warmth, safety, and respect; and meet you with responsiveness and empathy. I offer individual and couples therapy to adolescents and adults. My primary area of specialty is eating disorders. I also specialize in relationship issues; feelings of low self-confidence, shame, and insecurity; parenting concerns and infertility; specific conditions such as anxiety, depression, and trauma; and issues common to resident physicians. I offer a brief introductory phone consultation to hear more about what you're looking for in a therapist and hoping to get out of therapy, and to ensure I can be of help. In the event I am not the best therapist for you and the issue for which you need help, I would be glad to connect you with a colleague who may be a better fit.
