I try to view the majority of mental health issues through a holistic lens, taking into account and understanding the micro and macro level variables that impact one's mental health concerns (from diet, biology, and family system difficulties, to socioeconomic class and cultural and religious views). I am skeptical of the biomedical model of mental health that often minimizes the role of environmental context while viewing symptoms as pathological things that need to be cured, rather than coping mechanisms that need to be understood. I treat a wide variety of concerns and have expertise treating OCD, anxiety, and intrusive thoughts. I try to be flexible with my therapeutic approach, integrating a variety of evidence based theories that fit client's needs and personality styles. I have experience working with teenagers, young adults, and adults (I do not treat children). Some clients need exploration and insight, some need skills to cope or effectively communicate, others just need a space to talk and process. Together we can come up with a treatment plan and focus that suits your needs.
