Bariatric Assessments and Support Services (BASS) do the pre-surgical assessments for bariatric surgery. (NY and RI residents only). BASS meets with you to evaluate if there is anything underlying that would become an obstacle for you to get your surgery and help you identify supports and strengths for after surgery. BASS is there to help you become educated in the various surgeries and to bridge the care from the surgeon. BASS is empathic towards the struggles of obesity whether emotional, physical, and psychological surrounding it. The evaluation involves various assessments and getting to know you a bit. There is no therapy involved as this is strictly just getting you from point A to point B in your care. The sessions can be either 1 or 2 visits or a 1 visit that is 1.5 to 2 hours long and a letter that is done by the therapist after the visit to collaborate with your surgeon. BASS strives to assist those in getting the pre and post care for bariatric surgery; allowing you to get your mental health evaluation as quickly as possible.
