(I NOW PROVIDE VIDEO THERAPY FOR CLIENTS WHO ARE UNABLE TO COME TO MY OFFICE OR WHO CHOOSE TO STAY HOME DURING THE UNCERTAINTIES OF THE CORONAVIRUS SPREAD. If you use insurance for therapy, please check with your insurer to see if they cover video therapy. I also have a sliding scale for those who qualify.) ----- Creative Reminiscence is a narrative process of psychotherapy in which we use the psychology of memory to help explore and reflect. Sometimes people get stuck in the past and are burdened with such emotions as regret, grief, anger, helplessness, or unfulfilled dreams. William Faulkner notes "the past is never dead. It's not even past." At the same time, emotions we attribute to the past may sometimes arise from how we are feeling in the present. Yet our past provides us with a general sense of who we are, and guides us as we imagine the future. Character evolves, and we can be part of that evolution by coming to terms with the past and paying mindful attention to our present purpose. Creative Reminiscence will help us recall the past in a way that creates a better present and future.
