After years of working with children and their families in both home and school settings, I am well versed in issues of parenting and behavior mangagement. Children with difficulties have an impact on the entire family. My treatment strives is to maximize the individual functioning of the family member in need, as well support the overall functioning of the family; goals are to increase insight/understanding of behavioral challenges while providing practical solutions. This includes increasing the confidence/ability of parents to meet the many challenges of parenting. My approach is empathetic and supportive, while offering practical, effective intervention strategies. My focus is young children from preschool through young adult, including those with special needs. Experience in anxiety, self-regulation, behavior management, social skill development, sleeping, eating, toilet training, autism and selective mutism. I have training and experience supporting the development of pragmatic social skills to maintain meaningful social relationships. All young children are part of a family system. Seeing children with their families, in their home, is often an effective way to work with all relevant family members. I will travel to client homes or community settings when this is the best location for treatment.
