Hello. I am Larry Detyon, LPC. I have been a licensed professional counselor since 1994 and in the mental health field for more than 40 years. I was also a full-time associate professor for a number of years teaching subjects related to psychology, human services, and substance abuse counseling. I provide individual and couples therapy dealing with a majority of mental health challenges. This often includes mood (major/persistent depression and bipolar), anxiety, trauma, grief, and substance abuse disorders. Active listening, therapeutic rapport, compassion, and effective guidance are essential counselor qualities in order for me to help achieve desired outcomes. Clients with issues ranging from stress, depression, anxiety, problematic relationships, substance abuse (alcohol and drugs), and parent-child disturbances. Respectful to include active listening mixed with guidance and a feeling of working together to achieve the desired outcomes. Communication is a two-way endeavor with the amount of counselor input to be determined by the situation and needs of the client.
