About

It is my belief that an effective psychotherapy starts when the client senses that his or her feelings are being heard in an empathic, attentive manner. It is from this foundation that I try to work together with the client on self understanding and acceptance as well as in change and growth. My background in the theater, where empathic listening is an essential element, is combined with extensive academic training in mental health.

I have a BA from Boston University, an MSW from Hunter College, and four years of post masters study at the Post Graduate Center for Mental Health in New York City.

My understanding of a variety of treatment models, including Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness techniques, helps me to model the interventions to suit the individual.
