Katie began her career focused on substance abuse, giving her the opportunity to work with a variety of diagnoses, co-occurring disorders, and facilitating group therapy for children impacted by loved one’s addiction. While Katie works with a variety of disorders, she specializes in Emotional Dysregulation, Trauma, and Attachment Styles which are areas that get ignored in one's life. It's a ripple effect of working through the battles and then only having scars to look at. Katie focuses on the present and creates peace and beauty from the within. Katie is EMDR certified, an evidence-based method of reprocessing and integrating traumatic experiences. She utilizes attachment theory and internal family systems to make connections between past experiences and current behaviors. Katie then uses DBT and ACT to turn relevant observations and insights into attainable goals and an actionable plan. Katie believes the relationship between client and therapist is one of the most impactful aspects of therapy, so maintaining a warm, safe and non-judgmental atmosphere is central to her practice. Embracing change can be uncomfortable, and Katie will guide, encourage and challenge clients throughout the process.
