About

I work with people of diverse sexualities and racial/class backgrounds, from teens to seniors. Many are new to NYC or in other transitions. Clients come with anxiety, a trauma surfacing, work or relationship issues. Now most people's lives and psyches have been affected by the pandemic in some way. I find that people want to understand themselves, break free from self-damaging patterns, and live more fully, even joyfully. They're figuring out how to negotiate this tumultuous world while being true to their own values. They look at how society's shaping of gender, sexuality, race, class, age and (dis)ability affect their life.

Our work starts with whatever most troubles the client. As we build trust and forego judgments, deeper issues emerge from the weight of shame and self-criticism. Clients develop self-compassion for past hurts. We also use bodily awareness and play out internal conflicts . And we problem-solve concretely about obstacles and opportunities they face.

My aim is that from session 1, a client will feel heard and realize there are ways out. My style is warm yet thoughtful, and interactive. Clients begin to tap reserves of strength, break free from negative messages, and find empowerment and peace. I believe in affordable therapy, take insurance and offer a sliding scale.
