As clinical director for Midwest Counseling & Diagnostic Center, and a practicing clinical psychologist, Dr. Joy E. Ryba treats individuals, couples and families presenting with issues related to drug and alcohol addiction, process addictions (gambling, spending and sex), depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, and self-injury. She has been in private practice since 2004, after leaving the group practice of a large suburban behavior health hospital. Dr. Ryba utilizes a whole-person approach to therapy. She employs cognitive behavioral theory and techniques in her diagnostics and treatment. She tailors treatment to her clients' individual needs, incorporating a Family-Systems approach in addition to psychodynamic concepts. She has over fifteen years experience treating adolescents, adults and families. Dr. Ryba earned her Doctorate (Psy.D) of Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology, Chicago. While in graduate school, Dr. Ryba concentrated her studies on health psychology, behavioral medicine and addiction treatment.
