About

I meet people where they are on their path in life, and provide a safe space with emotional and intellectual support grounded in these principles: Genuineness / No judgment and unconditional acceptance, regardless of what is shared / Active, deep listening with empathy, understanding and compassion / Experienced, skilled support with practical feedback and insights / Assistance in exploring, identifying and working towards meaningful personal goals / Helping people address current and/or past life challenges such as depression, anxiety, grief, stress, anger, and trauma.

My counseling philosophy is based on Person Centered Counseling, and also draws upon Narrative, IFS, CBT, Psychodynamic and Reminiscence therapies. Though research over the past 50 years shows that one factor more than any other is associated with effective counseling: The quality of the relationship between counselor and client, regardless of philosophy.

I provide a free 15 min. phone consult to see if working together is a good fit. Telehealth only, except for house-call visits to those who live in assisted living or nursing home facilities in the Portland area. I have extensive experience with seniors and issues of aging, major life transitions, grief and loss.
