About

I specialize in treating Trauma (single event, long-term and attachment) with experiential therapies, including EMDR & Somatic Experiencing. These interventions recognize the need to go beyond changing your thoughts and focus on helping people regulate the body sensations and emotions that continue to be experienced. For example: a person may know that a traumatic event is over and yet continue to feel the emotion of anxiety and the body sensation of muscle tension (never truly relaxing or feeling safe). This can activate an impulse to run away from situations, become angry/defensive or shut down (depressed/ avoidant/dissociative)

The therapy interventions I use are designed to regulate the nervous system so unwanted body sensations, emotions and behaviors are no longer triggered. Physical symptoms (Chronic pain, tension, fatigue, sleep issues etc.) can also subside. Interventions are also effective with School & Social Anxiety, Grief/Loss, Self Harm and Behavior issues of children.

Using a holistic approach, my goal is to help clients enjoy life more fully and to experience truly healthy/fulfilling relationships. My clients report feeling important, heard and comfortable/safe in my office. Although therapy can be difficult work, it can also be fun and exciting as you notice real changes in your life.
